SitesToGo.NET - The Content Management Solution for Small Business
West Cliff Communications has recently added the content management solution SitesToGo.NET as part of its collection of small business services. The SitesToGo solution is called SET(tm), SitesToGo Editing Tool.
As you've probably noticed, many Web sites (even those of many Web design companies) are plagued by out-of-date content, old client lists, expired event listings, and news articles that just aren't newsworthy anymore. The reason, it's expensive and time consuming to update Web sites.
That's why we've chosen SitesToGo.NET as our content management tool of choice for small businesses. Here's an example of how most Web sites are updated compared to a site that is updated using SitesToGo.NET's Editing Tool.
Scenario: Add a Press Release to a Web Site |
HTML Method
The following steps are typical whether you use Dreamweaver, Frontpage, or another HTML text editor.
Step 1. Access your server, locate and FTP the home page and press release listings page.
Step 2. Using your HTML editing software:
2a. On the home page file, add headline, first paragraph, and link to press release. Remove old press release?
2b. On the press release listing page file, add the headline, date, and a link to the press release.
2c. Create a new page for the release
Step 3. FTP files to your staging server.
Step 4. Test on a set of browsers and multiple operating systems to be sure no code was broken during the update process.
Step 5. Fix any bugs or HTML code problems.
Step 6. Go back to Step 3.
Step 7. FTP the new files to your live server.
Step 8. Test live site on a set of browsers and systems.
If you are using a Web master or another company for site maintenance, be sure to factor in extra steps for communications and approvals. |
SitesToGo.NET Editing Tool
Step 1. Paste your press release copy into your SitesToGo Editing Tool and click PREVIEW. If you like what you see, go to Step 2.
Step 2. POST the article to your site. Update completed!
In two steps your press release is automatically added to your home page (headline, text, link), press release listings page (headline, date, link), and a new press release page is created. And everything is formatted perfectly!
If you find a typo later or rework your headline, go back to Step 1 and fix it in realtime. No need to go to Step 2.
No need to test on multiple browsers or operating systems, that was done when your site was designed.
No staging server needed since you can view your press release in a browser before you post it.
